Hal's is an airy and spacious neighborhood restaurant and best of all they have great art on the walls by prominent locals as well as jazz on Sundays. Highly recommended! A breezy and sparse space in which to enjoy unusually fresh fare. Mexican food is the order of the day with fresh tortillas made on the premises. A great bar scene on the outdoor patio as well. My favorite has always been the "40 miles of bad road" burrito. Canal Club 2025 Pacific Avenue Phone: (310) 823-38789 The Canal Club has been called “one of the most exciting restaurants in Los Angeles”. This eclectic neighborhood restaurant was named the Canal Club due to the clubby feeling of the Venice neighborhood and that it is situated a block away from the famous Venice canals. Capri 1616 Abbot Kinney Blvd Venice Phone: (310) 392-87779 Stark white walls hung with lush paintings, twinkling tea lights and intimate candlelit tables make Capri a prime date destination. This minimalism contrasts with the colorful northern Italian menu. Chaya Venice 110 Navy Street Venice Phone: (310) 396-1179 Chaya Venice has become the premier gathering spot for local artists, musicians, and movie industry moguls on Main Street for years. They call their fare La Nouvelle Cuisine Franco-Japanese and it's truly wonderful. C&O Trattoria 31 Washington Blvd Marina del Rey 310.823.9491 Extemely popular with the locals, you will wait for a table but it's worth it. It might be so popular because when they bring a jug of wine to the table they trust you to keep track of what you drink. Sort of a Italian Coccina atmosphere with Pasta, seafood and steaks in huge portions, and really garlicy rolls. Takeout and delivery also. Block inland from the Venice Pier. Danny's Venice Deli 23 Windward Ave Venice Phone: (310) 566-56101 A DELI ON THE BEACH The much anticipated Danny's has opened for lunch and dinner just off the world famous Venice Boardwalk, a "matzoh ball’s throw away from the beach". Visit website Hama Sushi 213 Windward Ave Venice Phone: 310.396.8783 On the Venice circle straight down Windward, this is the place for sushi and sashimi. Reservations suggested as it can get crowded. Another restaurant that has been in business for about 20 years in the same location. Hinano's Cafe 15 Washington Blvd Venice Phone: 310.822.3902 Really more of a bar than a cafe, but that doesn't mean the foods no good. There are people I know who will drive 150 miles for a Hinano burger and I personally find the Chili cheese dog the best priced hangover cure I've ver had. In the 70's Hinanos was know as a biker bar, today it's still not for the suit and tie crowd.Just 2 blocks from the Venice pier. James Beach 60 North Venice Boulevard Phone: (310) 823-5396 Every neighborhood needs a James Beach. You can go in and have a luxury meal in the sectioned-off, lily-white dining room or you can hang out in the open-air bar festooned with board shorts. Jody Maroni Sausage Kingdom 2011 Ocean Front Walk Venice Phone 310.822.5639 Jody started grilling sausages on the weekends over 20 years ago. Today he sells hundred of million of dollars worth of sausages worldwide! Oh, I should mention that the reason for his sucess, his sausages are the best!! A real Venice sucess story on the Boardwalk. The Sausage Kingdom is located by the Venice Pier. Killer Shrimp 523 Washington Blvd Marina del Rey Phone: 310.578.2293 A little tucked away gem. Killer Shrimp's name pretty much says it all. They serve shrimp with broth and bread exclusively. Get it to go and enjoy it on the beach. A slight walk to Washington and Via Marina. Lilly's French Cafe & Bar 1031 Abbot Kinney Boulevard Phone: (310) 314-0004 Lilly's is a French Cafe. Enjoy the warm feeling of a French Bistro with wine, beer and a martini bar. Beautiful patio out back. Check the Menu and book reservations at Lilly's! On the Waterfront/ Whaler 205 Ocean Front Walk Venice Phone: 310.392.0322 Good bar scene upstairs with the standard food fare. Great place to catch sports events at the south end of the Boardwalk because you can watch from the sidewalk through the huge opening windows if the place is full. But hey, you're in Venice, and the people are probably more interesting than anything you could ever put in your mouth. The street artists like to work the captive crowd just on the other side of the railing. Biggest patio on the Boardwalk and a full bar also.
